I use a similar option: only encoding the "@" as "&#064;". The adress
keeps readable, and it seems enough to defeat the common page
scanners.
<a href="mailto:test&#064;yahoo.com">test&#064;yahoo.com</a>

Anyway, my opinion is that I prefer to publish real working email
addresses and that spam protection has to be performed on mail
servers.
