I had a quick look at the add-on for MSVC written for GSL 1.16, and it
seems that there is no more Python script to modify the source
(add.express.py), only a custom tool (C, compiled) used to adds DLL
import/export directives to the GSL headers, so it seems that the GSL
code is more portale than before.
I wrote to the gsl-help mailing-list to have more detailed information
on this matter. If all we have written about GSL is confirmed, I will
propose a new version of the IPOL software guidelines, with libgsl 1,x
added to the list of authorized external library.
I would also use this opportunity to allow libtiff 4.x in addition to
libtiff 3.x. libtiff 4.x has been recently released after many years,
it adds support to very large images (BigTIFF) but has some changes
incompatible with libtiff 3.x code. libtiff 3.x is still maintained
for previous software, so I think for the moment both should be
allowed.
And I would have likes to add libpng 1.6.x too, but this version
(recommended by the authors) is not available in common Linux
distributions, so I think we can not support it yet.
All the best,
