I've tried to change the swappiness and overcommit memory/ratios but swap
is never used.

Anyway, I agree with you on that allocating more than 4 Gb of memory for a
single demo shouldn't be allowed, because it'd exhaust the server
resources.

So we have to decide if we only allow small images in the demo or perhaps
to change the algorithm to sacrifice speed for memory.
